Getting grants for children with an acquired brain injury. There are many wonderful charities out there who can provide financial grants, equipment and support for your child.

starContact a Family

Produces a list of organisations, that give grants to families with a child who has a disability. Many of these specify that applications should be made by a professional on behalf of the family. The directory can be viewed on their website. Tel: 0808 808 3555.

starThe Family Fund

For low‐income families who have children with severe disabilities up to the age of 17. The fund can help to pay for things such as a washing machine, play equipment or a family holiday. Tel: 08449 744 099.

starThe Roald Dahl Foundation

Gives grants of up to £500 to families caring for a child, upto the age of 18 years, with a neurological condition. In exceptional circumstances young people up to the age of 25 years may also be helped. Applications must be made by a Social Worker or health professional. Families must be on a low income. Gives grants to help children who have disabilities because of a brain related condition or injury. The grants are for equipment or resources for children up to 16 years of age. Tel: 01267 244216

Provides grants for vital, life‐changing and specialised equipment for children and young people with sickness or disabilities across the UK. Tel: 01244 335622.

Grants of up to £500 to help families and individuals cope with the practical implications of a sudden catastrophic brain injury.

starIndependent Living Fund

The funds were set up as a national resource dedicated to the financial support of disabled people enabling them to choose to live in the community rather than residential care. Tel: 0845 601 8815.

starDisabled Facility Grant

Disabled Facilities Grants are available in the UK to assist people with disabilities to access funding for recommended adaptations. This could include facilities such as access ramps, wet rooms, stair lifts and through floor lifts to name but a few.
